COMPOSITE INSULATORS

High performance and quality of Tronco Electric polymer insulators have been proven by strict attention paid to the quality control processes, advanced manufacturing rules and selection of the best materials and optimum designs give us the capabilities to be leader in electrical field and meet customer's requirement. We have conducted the type tests specified in IEC standards, from chemical analysis of the materials to full-scale electrical and mechanical tests on polymer insulators, fulfilled in accredited independent international laboratories.

INSULATOR STRUCTURE

Long rod insulators/Suspension insulators/Tension insulators

Composite insulator structure.jpgHydrophobicity.jpgComposite insulator consists of three parts:

Fiberglass core: The core rod is a boron free, corrosion resistant ECR glass fiber reinforced plastic rod (FRP rod). Due to the extremely high hydrolysis and acid resistance of the FRP rod the risk of so called brittle fracture is completely eliminated for insulators.

End fitting: Made of high grade hot-dip galvanized forged steel and casting steel.

Silicone rubber: The materials of sheds and sheaths of composite insulators are HTV silicone rubber and the surface is a low energy surface. The creepage distance of composite insulators is bigger and the diameter of the umbrella shed is smaller, and the surface has hydrophobicity and migration of hydrophobicity. Even in a humid and polluted environment, the shed surface of composite insulators will not form a continuous water film, therefore, its antipollution performance is superior to that of a porcelain insulator.

VOLTAGE RATING & STRENGTH RANGE

11kV up to 500kV. 40kN up to 300kN long rod type, 4kN up to 20kN post type.

STANDARD

TRONCO ELECTRIC insulators complied with the standard of IEC 61109 & IEC 61952

ADVANTAGES

The use of composite insulators in place of traditional porcelain and glass insulators for line insulation has become widespread in the last 20 years. High temperature vulcanized (HTV) silicone rubber is dominating for transmission voltages.

  • Lighter weight
  • Lower cost
  • Easier handling
  • Better resistance to damage from vandals
  • Superior contamination performance

APPLICATION

Long rod insulators are used for suspension and tension towers for high voltage grids and railway grids. Composite post insulators are used for disconnector, switchgear and substation works. Tronco Electric can also make the design and supply the insulator strings.
